Feronia Literary Prize

The Feronia literary prize is an “ant prize”. It’s focused on the deep research around the literature and it is strongly against the speculation of the cultural industry. During his fifteen editions, the prize has always supported the value of the written word, rather than the actual communication system, built up on the pictures value. It has a strong ant conformist and open view spirit, does not care if the challengers are famous writers or brand new authors. The prize is just a panel where everyone can share and compare their works with the other artists and it is primarily addressed to writers, texts and literary trends which was hidden or misunderstood for their innovative spirit (article 12 of the Feronia Prize Statute).

The Feronia literary prize has four sections: poetry, narrative, militant criticism and special prize for a foreign author. Starting from 2002 another section has been added thanks to the Marino Piazzolla Fondation. The prize main aspects are the struggle against the classic manages of the literary prizes, the deep value of the written word quality and the visual and ideological value of our actual culture (article 3 of the Feronia Prize Statute). The works are directly selected by the committee that works on public places (article 7 of the Feronia Prize Statute). The challenge is not allowed for authors and publishers. The prize has a public and economic recognition, its aim is to promote the cultural spell for the winner works. The promotion is developed by the committee (article 8 of the Feronia Prize Statute).

The committee counts on a large high level panel: Filippo Bettini (president), Gianfranco Baruchello, Cecilia Bello (secretary), Gianni Borgna, Marcello Carlino, Aldo Clementi, Tullio De Mauro, Franco Falasca, Giuliano Ferilli, Franco Ferrarotti, Ludovico Gatto, Carlo Lizzani, Aldo Mastropasqua, Pedrag Matvejevic, Francesco Muzzioli, Renato Nicolini, Stefano Paladini, Giorgio Patrizi, Lamberto Pignotti, Paola Pitagora, Fausto Razzi, Mario Quattrucci, Jacqueline Risset, Chiara Valentini, Vincenzo Vita.
